Dominion
Description
In Dominion, each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can "buy" as they can afford them. Through their selection of cards to buy, and how they play their hands as they draw them, the players construct their deck on the fly, striving for the most efficient path to the precious victory points by game end.
From the back of the box: "You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion! In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner.
"But wait! It must be something in the air; several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury. Your parents wouldn't be proud, but your grandparents, on your mother's side, would be delighted."
Dominion is not a Collectible Card Game (CCG), but the play of the game is similar to the construction and play of a CCG deck.
Game Format
Players will be guaranteed to play two games. The top 4 players will play in a final round.
Standard victory conditions apply in the individual rounds, with an additional 50 minute time limit for play. If none of the end-game conditions have been met within 50 minutes of play, victory points accrued up to time being called will count towards players' total score.
Victory points will be totalled across the preliminary rounds, and the four players with the highest scores will play in the final round.
Kingdom cards used may come from any expansion for Dominion and will be pre-selected by the event moderator. Each table will have a different configuration, and players will play one game at each table in the preliminary round. The final round will be randomly generated at the time of play.
Seating order: Players will be randomly seated for the first game, and reorganized to ensure that no-one repeats a table by the moderator.

Players collect resources to build their civilizations to get to 10 victory points and win the game. Sign up early as this event was full last year!
Game Format
Players will be guaranteed to play 2 games. The top 4 players will play in a final round.
First player to 10 victory points wins. Or, in the first 2 games, which will be limited to 50 minutes each, at the end of 50 minutes the player with the highest number of victory points will be first place for that game. The final will be played until a single player reaches 10 victory points.
Table seating order:
1st game: random seating
2nd game: 1st place players and 3rd place players stay at the table they just played at, 2nd place players move one table to the left, 4th place players move one table to the right
Final: random seating of the top 4 highest scores of the first two games combined.
Points: Total victory points will be tracked from each game. The 4 players with the highest number of victory points from their combined total from the first two games will play in the final.
Tie breaks for tournament scores after preliminaries: sum your opponent victory points in the two games. Lower scores get higher ranking.
Variant: The first two games will use an accelerated set-up for the Start Phase. The final will be played without an accelerated start. Set up for accelerated start:
1. Highest dice roll determines first player. Play follows clockwise.
2. Players place one settlement and one road in the order Player 1, 2, 3, 4.
3. Players place one city and one road in the order Player 4, 3, 2, 1.
4. Players then place one road in the order Player 1, 2, 3, 4. This extra road must be placed as to connect with a player’s settlement, city, or previously placed road.
5. The starting resource cards are distributed on the placement of each player’s city, however, only one raw material card for each bordering area. The following are areas of The Settlers of Catan rules that occasionally cause confusion.
These are clarifications to the standard rules:
• A player’s turn begins with rolling the dice. Players are allowed to play a development card (for example, a Soldier card) before they roll the dice.
• Players are not allowed to build a road beyond a settlement or city of another player.
• Players are allowed to upgrade a settlement to a city in the same turn it was built.
• If a player buys a development card with a victory point on it, he may immediately reveal it if it is his tenth victory point to win the game. This is only possible with development cards that have a victory point printed on it.
• There is no distinction between the trade and building phase.
• A harbour may be used the same turn that a player builds on it.
• A player has won if he or she has 10 or more victory points (although only 10 will be counted for the ranking) and it is the player’s turn. If a player does not notice that he or she has 10 points, the player must wait until the next turn before winning the game (assuming no earlier player wins, and the player still has 10 points).
• If there are not enough resource cards of one kind to give every player the resource cards he should get after rolling the dice, then nobody will receive a card of this kind. The other resource cards are handed out to the players as usual.
• Rolls of seven within the first two rounds of the game should be re-rolled.
Disputes or issues are to be brought to the moderator. His decision is final.

With the dice you do not have to keep any of the tickets you have drawn when using the dice. This rewards you for taking route tickets. No longer do you have to take three turns to claim a simple three track route while praying you get the correct colors. Or worse the cheesy game of collecting color cards until the deck has gone through once then claim routes and even the long 8 track route. It should never be easy to get this route as it is worth 21 points (a big ticket).
Game Format
Expansion to be used will be the Dice Game Expansion.
Scoring: total highest overall points between both games to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Sportsmanship is greatly appreciated but in the end it is points that win. If the top 5 players wish to play a championship round and time allows before next session then Ticket to Ride Marklin will be used to determine 1st through 5th again using the dice expansion.

Whiskey Traders - prototype
Description
In the late 1880's the landscape of North America was changing. As more and more immigrants landed the US and CAN governments promised cheap land for the new arrivals on the western frontier.
In Canada, the Hudson Bay authority had determined the fur trade was in decline. They sold most of their land to the recently formed Canadian government. The province of British Columbia on the Western Pacific coast had just joined the country with the provision that an intercontinental railway would be completed.
In the USA the land needed to be cleared for the white settlers. The Civil War had just ended with a victory for the Union. The only problem was dealing with the First Nations population that had roamed the lands for ages eternal. If the US government could eliminate the bison the First Nations problems would be a lot easier.
Back in Canada some unscrupulous US traders had moved north. They were trading Whiskey to the First Nations tribes prior to trading for the lucrative buffalo hides. When one of the traders lost his horse he blamed it on the nearby Assiniboine camp... a massacre ensued.
When word of the massacre and the lawless west got back to Ottawa the Canadian Government decided to act. They formed a special police force named the North West Mounted Police or NWMP. Their task and journey was to regain sovereignty and encourage the First Nations tribes to peacefully move to reservations.
The First Nations and Métis population weren't so easily persuaded. They had roamed the lands on both sides of the borders for hundreds of years following the bison. Every part of the bison was used to make a better way of life.
Events have been set in motion which will change the west forever. The CPR is being built. The NWMP are on the move. The US army is clearing a path for white settlement. The First Nations and Métis people are losing their land and culture to an uncaring white tidal wave. Who will survive and who will fail?
