FRAG is a volunteer based organization. The day-to-day functioning of the club depends on the work of volunteers. Board members volunteer large amounts of time to ensure that the club functions but we need help with the running of Games Days and of course the Convention. Volunteers are needed for all sorts of things at the Convention such as games moderators and concession workers.  Games Days require volunteers not only in the concessions but also in set up and takedown.

A large need at both is in the area of concessions.  The Games Days menu has been redesigned to eliminate the cooking of food (especially the frying of food).  Concession now consists of selling pop and chips and dishing up one of the food specials. Please consider working a two-hour shift in the kitchen or helping in setup or takedown. We will reward volunteers with special events, prizes and free admissions.

The Kitchen and concession is an important part of FRAG events.  It allows us to pay for the facilities and ensure that other costs for the organization are covered (Website, Corporation Fees, Expenses, Prizes, some Convention support, etc.).

For the upcoming Games Day the following shifts need to be staffed in order to have the concession running:
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Kitchen close and cleanup)

If you are able to volunteer for one of these slots, or even a portion of a slot, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As a volunteer in this position you are expected to:

  • Take customer orders and fulfill them.
  • Track inventory on provided spreadsheets.  Track all sales in appropriate category.  Use new sheet for each shift in the kitchen (fill in your name and the time of shift worked).
  • Report on any shortage of inventory to a Board Member.
  • Keep refrigerator stocked with Pop and Water.
  • Prepare any food required (i.e. Pizza)
  • Keep kitchen clean.  Wash any dishes possible, wipe counters regularly.
  • Practise safe food handling; wash hands regularly, keep kitchen clean.
  • Remove sold-out items from posted price lists.
  • Clean and restock condiment area.
  • Empty garbages as required.
  • Check gaming areas for any garbage that can be removed.

Although this seems like a big list, you still have an opportunity to be involved with a light game (with patient players) while you are on duty.

If you would like to volunteer, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and provide the time slot options that you are available for.

Thanks!
