Magic The Gathering, Solomon Draft League
Is anyone interested in playing in a Solomon Draft League. Eight players would be best. The format is described below.
The cost should be around $15/person. I would expect we could do this over one day, or, as I'd prefer, doe it over a few week period.
If you're interested, sign in below.
Comments appreciated!
Round Robin Continuous Solomon Protected Draft
1. Four 15 cards packs of approved sets are required to compete.
2. A Round Robin Tournament Format (all players play all other players) will be used.
3. Each match will consist of three games; best two out of three wins the match.
4. Each Match begins with a Solomon draft of all cards of both players. See Draft Details below.
5. Each player will start the season with five Protection Points. See Draft Process below.
6. Three Match points will be awarded to the winner of a 2-0 win and no points will be awarded to the loser. Two Match Points will be awarded to the winner of a 2-1 Match, and one point to the loser. In the event of a drawn third match, each player will be awarded Two Match Points. In all cases, the sole loser of a match receives one protection point.
7. Intentional draws are not allowed; all matches must be completed.
8. After the Round Robin is completed, a single elimination tournament will be seeded by match points. Ties will be broken by the winner of the match between the two opponents. In the event of multiple ties, pistols at dawn will be drawn.
9. In the Single elimination portion of the tournament, the cards of the loser are given to the winner at the end of the draft. The loser may protect cards to keep. See Draft Details for information on Protection.
10. For each win in the single elimination portion of the tournament, each player receives five protection points. See Draft Details.
11. The winner of the tournament will keep all cards that they have in their possession at the end of the tournament.

Each Match Begins with a Solomon Draft.
Protecting Cards
Each player may protect cards from their own supply. The cost of protecting a card is determined by the rarity of the card; Rare cards cost five points to protect, uncommon cards cost three points, and common cards cost one point. A player may protect a maximum of five cards prior to a given match. Protected cards are revealed to the opponent, and then set aside to be added to the players supply after the draft is completed.
During the Single elimination tournament, the losing player may protect cards after the loss also. The protected cards may be taken from the complete set of cards that are available for both players. In this case, these cards are removed from the card pool, and are given as consolation to the loser of the match.
Solomon Draft
All remaining cards are combined into a single draft pool. Players are given 5 minutes to review the cards in the draft pool. The cards are shuffled and the draft begins.
The player with the lowest Match Point total will become the active player and begin the draft. If there is a tie, determine the active player randomly.
The active player will turn over eight cards, and break them into two separate pools. The pools do not have to have an equal number of cards, but each pool must have at least one card. In the event that there are not six cards available, use as many cards as is available. If there is only one card remaining in the draft supply, add this card to the current pool (the last pool could be a pool with nine cards in it).
The opponent chooses a pool and adds those cards to his supply. The active player adds the remaining pool to his supply. The opposing player becomes the active player and process repeats until all cards have been drafted.
The players then make a minimum 60 card deck from all cards in their supply. Basic lands are provided for deck building. The opponent from the last draft is the starting player in the match, and the last loser has the choice of starting or drawing during the match.

"newbie" would like to be in as well
I would like to take part in this solomon draft as well if it is still possible.
Jason- I tried to PM you but the PM feature doesn't seem to be working. Oh well. It's Brad Leighton. I used to play Magic with you back in the day (Ryan Russaw, Nick Bonokoski, S. Ryan Kirk). Well, I have been looking for a casual group of magic players and this seems like it would be alot of fun. You should shoot me an email and discuss if you want to. I could probably even get one or two more people if you don't have 8 yet.
